A series of prints of designs from classical ruins, made under the direction of Hector Jean Baptiste d’Espouy professor at the School of Beaux Arts, Paris. ENCEINTE SACREE DE DEMETER A ELEUSIS. Enclosure sacred to Demeter at Eleusis. Demeter was the great goddess of agriculture who also presied over mysteries which promised initiates blessed after life. Demeter was the mother of Kora goddess of the underworld.
